Journal 10: Embellishments

For journal assignment 10 I took this picture I took from the shutter speed roll and embellished the outside on photoshop. I applied a gradient effect behind the picture and then I put a stroke around the picture itself and the whole image. I really like the contrasting colors in this picture.

People: Digital Prints!

Over the time period that we had to take our People roll,  it was my little brother's birthday, so I decided to take pictures of him opening his presents! I really like how these two pictures came out and decided to use them as my prints.

Journal 6: Transparency

For Journal Assignment Number 5 I made a print from my Portals roll and then had a transparency made of it. Think I placed it over a tie dye shirt to create a cool effect and then I played around with some effects on photoshop.

Shutter Speed: Digital Prints!

Our fourth assignment of the year was Shutter Speed! For this assignment we had to take both a digital roll and a film roll. From the digital roll, I chose these two pictures: one of a falling leaf and one of my brother blowing bubbles. I really like how both of these pictures turned out. It was a really nice day when I took the pictures and the leaves were very vivid which inspired me to catch a picture of one drifting to the ground. I also really love bubbles and thought it would be cool to catch them forming. I really like how you can see the rainbow in the bubbles, how green the grass is, and how even one of them is sparkling.

Journal 5: Pictures with Texture

For Journal Assignment Number 5 we had to use some item such as lace, transparencies, or aluminum foil. I chose to place lace over this picture of my kitchen cabinets because I felt it gave the image a more vintage feel. Then I uploaded it into photoshop and played with the filters to give it a sepia tone to give it even more of a vintage feel. I really like how this turned out.

Journal 4: Creative Story

One day Katie was walking down the street in the rain with her umbrella. All of a sudden, a monkey came out of no where and started attacking her. She used her umbrella to defend herself from the evil monkey, but was too clumsy and ended up slipping on the wet pavement. As she fell to the ground, she somehow managed to cut her legs off. That, or the monkey took one last swing while she was falling. She couldn't remember because she blacked out when she hit the ground. When she woke up, she found her legs standing next to her. Next thing she knew, the monkey came running past and her legs follwed behind. And that is the story of how Katie's legs got away.

Journal Assignment 3: Critical Review

This picture is not well developed at all. It could be in focus better. There is a lot of dust and many scratches on the print that are very noticeable The light on the left side distracts from the image and shouldn't have been included in the photo. The right side is also more washed out than the left side. All of these factors detract from the image and make it not pleasing to the eye.

Journal Assignment 2: Scratched Print

This was the second journal assignment I did where I took a negative and scratched it with sandpaper. I think it actually turned out really well and kind of gives more detail to the photo.

Journal Assignment 1: Colored High Contrast

This was a journal assignment that I did of a high contrast print that I hand colored. The picture was originally from the Portals roll but I by using a higher filter I was able to make it more contrasty. I kept the colors kind of realistic but not at the same time and I like how it came out.

Childhood Memories!

This was the third assignment of the year.. Childhood Memories. The title pretty much explains itself.. I took this one of some objects I used and played with a lot when I was little that all went together. There is a ballerina doll, named Angelina Ballerina and a book that goes with it and tells a story about her. There was also a tutu for myself that I wore all the time when I was young.  I really like the angle and arrangement of the picture and the lighting in the background.

Portals!

For assignment two we were told to take pictures of.. Portals! They could be just of the portal themselves or looking through the portal and focusing on the image on the other side. I took this one of Crozet Pizza. I really like the vintage feel of the building and all the doors and windows on the building. The whites came out really well and I am really proud of how this one came out.

Scavenger Hunt!

This was the first assignment we had to do for the year... Lighting Scavenger Hunt! We were given a list with specific lighting requirements for each photo. This one was for a white object with a black background and I chose to put the film cleaner and some qtips on the table. I really like the contrasting of the objects on the table and I think the whites and blacks turned out really well.
