Best Photo of the Year.

I feel as though I've really grown as a photographer this year. I have learned to experiment with different techniques, and explore different places to take pictures. I used to be too shy to take pictures out in public, and would only take them at home, but this year has helped me to go out and take pictures of everyday life of the city. We also got to experiment with digital cameras this year, which lead to using photoshop. With digital cameras it is a lot easier to experiment, because if you mess up, you can delete the photo and try again. I have really loved each and everyone one of my photos this year. I would consider this one of my best pictures of the year, because I love the expression I managed to capture on his face. I love how photos can tell a story, and I feel this one does. I was really happy when my experimentation with bubbles produced a really cool photo. This was one of the latest rolls we had to take, and I feel it shows my growth as a photographer this year.

Final Project!

For our last journal assignment, we had to make a 2 or 3D project of our works from this year. For the first image, I chose to just make a sort of collage of some of my favorite photos of the year. I chose to use all film photos and then one digital to make it pop. In the second image I made a quick kaleidoscope of possibly one of my favorite images. I really like the center of the kaleidoscope.

Disappearing Act!

This is my series for disappearing act. I began my writing on my driveway with chalk and then washed it away with a water hose and took pictures as it began to disappear. I really like the contrasting colors of the black driveway to the colorful chalk.

Portrait without a Face: Prints!

These are the two prints I chose for Portrait without a Face. The first is of the little boy I babysit. He loves bubbles and I thought it would be a neat idea to blow the bubbles in front of his face to obscure it. He obviously enjoyed it. The second is of my little brother. He held the umbrella covering his face and then I held a water hose above the umbrella so it ran off in front of his face. As I was snapping pictures he reached his hand out and I thought it added to the photo and made it kind of mysterious. I really like how these pictures came out.

My Life

These are two photos from My Life. The first is of my best friend Ashley. The second is of shoes because I love shopping and shoes.

Sandwiching Negatives

I sandwiched two pictures of my brother on a teeter totter to create this image. I think it turned out really cool.

Journal 18: Senior Art Show Poster

This is the poster I created for the Senior Art Show. I used three of my favorite pictures to use as examples. I created the text and then chose colors from the images to tie it together. I chose brighter colors for the text to make it stand out and even put strokes around the text.

Journal 17: Collection

These are a few images I created experimenting on photoshop. The first I faded the text into the image so it looked like it was part of the image, using a gradient. The second is where I experiment with the technique I used for my poster. The last image is a photo that I took this year. I cross-processed the image, which is basically playing with the curves to make the image more vibrant.

Journal 16: Hand Colored Print

For this journal assignment, we had to hand color a print on photoshop. I chose this picture that I took last year. I decided to just color the tricycle and converse because they were the most prominent objects and it makes them stand out more.

Journal 15: Drink and Drive Poster

I created this poster of the stats for drinking and driving at our school. We were told to use a picture that we have taken in photography, so I chose one of my brother doing a cartwheel, kind of like he was celebrating. I then typed the text and pushed it through the photo so the text was the picture. I then put a stroke around the text just to make it easier to read. Finally, to pull it all together, I created a gradient on the top and bottom of the poster.

Silhouette Prints!

These are the two pictures that I chose from my silhouette roll that I did digitally. The first is of silhouetted trees with the sun shining through. I edited this pictures to make the colors a lot more vibrant. The second picture is one of my brother. I placed a flashlight behind him to create light shining out above him and silhouetting him. I think this picture turned out really cool.

Journal 14: Sepia and Blue Toned Images

Journal 13: Sandwiching

I sandwiched an image of a window with and image of my brother hiding to make it look like he was looking through the window.

Journal 12: Posterize

I posterized this image by first making it a little more contrasty by playing with the curves and then selected the posterize option.

Journal 11: Collage

For this journal assignment, I took a photo of my brother and copied it 4 times. I then placed a different filter or effect on each image and manipulated them to create a cool collage effect.

Free Choice: Digital Prints!

These were the two photos I chose from my free choice roll. The first one is of an ornament on the Christmas tree in my room. It's an ornament that i've had since I was a child and I love it. The second one is of an ornament on our Christmas tree downstairs. I love the copper against the green and the red garland right below.

People!

This photo was for our people roll. I took this photo of my brother at Target. He was hiding from me because he didn't want his picture taking but when he peeped his head out, I snapped a shot of him. I think this photo is really cute and I love the Christmas feeling of the whole image.
